It might be staying the same, just in a different order, as per some discussion / confusion on Tumblr...http://genderqueerid.com/post/619712826 ... tions-i-am

In that order, I actually prefer the white. The black makes it look like the flag to an obscure nation.

HOWEVER, a GQ nation would be pretty badass.

Yeah, a lot of people are saying they preferred the white (when that was a point of contention previously! oh well, I think that's what I'll end up going with in the end - I'll decide for sure tomorrow). This is the only gender map I think I've seen, would have to puzzle over how accurate it is (these terms often have so many shades of meaning!) http://dmarling.deviantart.com/art/Gend ... -145823187 :

I'm not a fan of how that map puts neuter as a separate island. A lot of people (including myself) identify as neutral and [gender].

Yeah, it's a pretty map and well-drawn and I like the "Here be Dragqueens" take on the traditional "Here be Dragons", but I'm not sure where I fit. I mean, I don't think I'm really in the definitely male area. For example, I do like to cross gender lines when it comes to clothing and such. Sometimes full drag, but most of the time just a mix. And some people apparently think I have enough feminine traits that they think I could be gay. But I've never "felt female", whatever that means. My own gender is not a big deal to me. I guess I am sort of gender indifferent? Maybe a sort of gender gypsy?

Still, I think it would be very difficult, maybe even impossible, to fit everyone in on a 2 dimensional map. So I think they've done a good job overall.
We could also compare to Ecu's cool gender pool pic (except I don't swim so I have to at least cling to a raft or something. ha ha

Also, aren't andro and butch basically the same thing? And there's no section for androgynes or femme nonbinary folks. :( It's better than that one "Transgender Umbrella" picture I once saw, that's for sure.

I like it, maybe not that exact picture but as an idea. All of us that aren't what male and female are perceived to be huddled together for protection from the Cis rain :)

Yeah, I know a lot of these terms are up in the air and up to personal description, but the placement and inclusion / exclusion of some identities here is a bit boggling...:

Also I prefer using Trans* to Transgender as it's a vaguer term and for some transgender is very specific.

I think "andro" is supposed to be "androgynes" in this picture and they just used an unfortunate shortening of the word :|

I suspect a lot of people do; it's just that "andro" only means "man" and the whole point is that it's "man + woman". I guess it's only bad if you're up on your ancient Greek :D

Hee, I thought it looked like a queered-up Estonian flag with the black bit :)

Argh, the comments on that article...mostly by one particular person. Who exactly are these "transgender Borg" or as I've heard it said elsewhere by a similarly-minded person, "Transgender, Inc."? I've never met these people. What I have met are a fair number of transwomen (and a few transmen) who are determined to make sure the world understands that they're not one of those crazy transgender freaks, they're Real Women (or possibly Real Men.)

^ I've seen a lot of trans guys on Queer Secrets with that attitude, and I can't help but get a really icky misogynistic vibe from them, even though I really shouldn't.

Yeah, and what sucks is that I know the reasoning behind that sort of attitude (a culture that says trans men aren't "real men"), but I can't excuse it at all.

Replied to one of those comments, refuting the made-up history that "until around ten years ago, transsexuality was acceptable." We'll see if it gets posted.
